Mario Marino Re-imagines COIL to Wrap Up 2024
Mario had done a synthwave version of Optimistic and so when he came to me about doing the same thing for COIL. I was all in.
Jon Hadley – Abrasive Monologues
Wrapping up an amazing 2024 for Abrasive Monologues, Mario Marino put his unicorn bass to work once again on an epic reimagining of Jonathan Hadley’s COIL. The results were so impressive to Hadley, that he insisted on making a secondary visual for the track. One that was familiar, but vastly different to the original version of the song. The video for Mario’s version of COIL, sees Hadley bathed in the glow of the neon lights with a futuristic backdrop befitting the genre.
The last year has been long, but good. We did some amazing things as a team and a performing group. We built a record label… We released Warm Cyborgs, for better, or worse. I’m still working on pieces of that album and there will be a new version dropping soon that corrects a few mistakes on my part. You live and learn. Warm Cyborgs is the largest production I’ve ever done, I think we did okay. COIL is definitely a stand out among the songs on the album so I’m over the moon to have two incredible versions of it.
