New Year’s Eve Spectacular: Indie Boom Shockwave

The Remixes!

What an incredible New Year’s Eve celebration we had! The night was filled with amazing music from diverse artists as we dove into wonderfully entertaining conversations. The absolute highlight of the evening was our Remix showcase – we received six fantastic submissions for our Indie Boom Shockwave Intro Remix challenge, and each one brought something special to the table.

bigbaldben

bigbaldben came in strong with his lyrics AND lyric video, which will be the new intro to the show for the next month, and receive an exclusive Merch.

Keegan Clark

Coming in second place with their electrifying electronic take on the Intro, Keegan Clark earns both exclusive merchandise and the coveted opening slot for our February shows. Their innovative rendition captivated voters, securing them the runner-up position. (I should note, Keegan just decided to remix this yesterday and grabbed second.)

WZRD Gundlach

Fan-favorite and Daw Wars legend WZRD Gundlach secured third place, but rather than joining our intro rotation, his submission found an even more fitting home. His dark, hip-hop influenced track perfectly captured the vibe we needed for our show’s outro – an unexpected but brilliant outcome that created a new prize category we hadn’t even planned for.

Doc Gryphon

Our own voice in the sky, Doc Gryphon, delivered a stunning version of the intro that masterfully blends intense electronic effects with robotic, transformer-like vocals. This high-energy, head-bobbing track is a perfect addition to this year’s intro rotation, showcasing the perfect fusion of mechanical and musical elements.

Lipid

Lipid, a fresh face in the stream, initially had me thinking their remix was going to closely mirror the original. However, that assumption only held through the build-up phase. The track takes an explosive turn halfway through, veering into an entirely new direction that absolutely captivated me with its innovative sound design and unexpected arrangement.

SpDoubleOG

Finally, the very first entry we got to hear when we announced the remix challenge – SpDoubleOG came at this with the fury of hell itself. As someone deeply immersed in rock/metal, I was fully expecting this to be the winner, but music has a beautiful way of surprising us. The raw energy and creativity here are absolutely phenomenal, and I can’t wait to have this in our regular rotation!

I am genuinely blown away by all 6 of you who made this happen. After the stream, James, Doc and I had an intense discussion about each submission, and we were unanimously floored. Every single entry didn’t just bring music – they brought a unique artistic vision that has enriched our little community in ways I couldn’t have imagined. The level of talent and dedication shown here has been nothing short of inspiring.

The Massive Playlist

2025 is coming in hot with the 2025 Engagement Harvest Living Playlist. James, Doc, and I put together a list of some of our favorite Indie songs from 2024. There are way more songs in this massive 5 hour playlist than we can possible fit into a show. Prepare for the Culling!
